Clayton

15 Minutes Away from Pizza Excellence

Time to go to Piazza

The city of St. Louis, eager to make a name for itself as something more than farmland, decided that relocating the county courts would gain the attention it needed. A site donated by two Virginia farmers, Ralph Clayton and Martin Hanley, was selected as the perfect location for the county court system. At that time, the town was small and business was built around the courthouse traffic. After it became an incorporated municipality in 1913, Clayton’s population more than doubled over the next couple decades. As businesses boomed, the suburb grew into a metropolitan area full of small and large businesses, and today, Clayton is still mostly residential with a mix of skyscrapers.

Shaw Park, a 47-acre park situated near the hub of Clayton’s vibrant business district, is home to an aquatic center with a 50-meter competition pool; an outdoor ice rink; 10 tennis courts; 9 ball fields; and many more amenities. With several shops and restaurants to stroll, the unique combination of city and green space makes Clayton the perfect community to live and work. But if you’re craving honest cucina Italiana, your destination – Café Piazza – is only 15 minutes away in the historic district of Benton Park.

Café Piazza is a local St. Louis eatery serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Offering a full-service espresso bar, authentic Italian gelato, and savory Italian pie, the aromas on Café Piazza’s patio will transport you to the historic and picturesque streets of Sicily. The indoor atmosphere is equally as appealing, with a 1000 square foot mural on the ceiling that chronicles St. Louis’ unique past. Created by renowned artist Paco Rosic, this is a must-see, visually stimulating piece of art. Whether you live in Clayton, downtown St. Louis, or are visiting from out of town, if you’re looking for a distinguished pizza eatery with authentic Sicilian flair, head to Café Piazza.
